Simple Bird House Plans For Kids

1x6 pine board (cut to 12" long)

Instructions:

Start by cutting all of the pieces of wood to the correct size. Sand all of the pieces of wood to smooth out any rough edges.
Next, assemble the front and back of the birdhouse. Place the 1x6 pine board on the bottom and the 1x4 pine board on the top. Align the edges of the boards and screw them together with wood screws.
Now, assemble the sides of the birdhouse. Place the two 1x4 pine boards on either side of the front and back of the birdhouse. Align the edges of the boards and screw them together with wood screws.
Next, attach the roof to the birdhouse. Place the 1x2 pine board on the top of the birdhouse. Align the edges of the board and screw it into place with wood screws.
Now, cut a 1/4" hole in the front of the birdhouse for the entrance. The hole should be about 1-1/2" from the bottom of the birdhouse.
Next, cut a 1/4" dowel to 3" long. This will be the perch for the birds.
Finally, attach the perch to the inside of the birdhouse. Place the dowel in the hole in the front of the birdhouse and screw it into place.
Your birdhouse is now complete! You can paint or stain it if you like. Then, find a spot in your yard to hang it and wait for the birds to move in.

You can use any type of wood to build your birdhouse, but pine is a good choice because it's inexpensive and easy to work with.
